Recycled Wool Mittens
$40.00
These Recycled Wool Mittens started out as cast-off sweaters that still had so much life left in them. I hunt for wool pieces with great pattern and texture, then bring them back to my sewing room in Eagle, WI, USA, where I cut, piece, and shape them into cozy, one-of-a-kind handwarmers.
Because I am working with pre-loved garments, no two pairs are ever the same. One might have bold stripes, another a soft heathered plaid, another a tiny fair isle running across the cuff. If you like the feeling of wearing something no one else can grab off a rack, these are made for you.
On the inside, I add a soft fleece lining, so you get the warmth of wool without any scratch. The double layer creates a little pocket of air between the wool and the lining, which helps hold in heat on those truly cold mornings. I designed the thumb and palm curve to feel natural when you grip a steering wheel, hold a coffee, or walk the dog.
Choosing these mittens is a small, everyday way to live your values. By upcycling wool garments instead of buying new fabric, I am keeping usable textiles out of the landfill, and you are wrapping your hands in something that is both warm and thoughtful. They pair beautifully with my flannel and knit scarves if you like a coordinated, eco-conscious winter set.
Toss them by the door, tuck them in your work bag, or gift them to someone who is always cold. Each pair is cut, sewn, and finished by me, Becky, so when you slide them on, you are not just wearing mittens; you are carrying a little piece of handmade care wherever you go.
